Busy February!
Happy February!
In social studies, we had did a mini unit on the Pioneers and the Oregon Trail. The students were fascinated with how they lived compared to how we live today! We wrapped up the unit with a fun project making covered wagons.
In social studies and writing, we are celebrating black history month. The students have been learning about some powerful African American figures that played a role in civil rights and helped to end segregation. They got to choose a person of interest to them and wrote a biography about them! They did a great job! You can read the biographies on the bulletin board in the classroom! :)
The Roadrunners are really enjoying cursive and they are catching on to it fast! Long division is still something we are practicing in class almost daily!
In science we are conducting experiments in class and going through the scientific method so that the Roadrunners can get a better grasp of all of the steps they need to do for their experiment.
All of the Roadrunners signed up for an experiment last week! Thank you for getting that done on time! :) You may begin conducting the experiment at home anytime. Remember to take lots of pictures! The science boards will be available in the office to pick up SOON!
We are celebrating the 100th day of school this week! It is also our last week of skating, Oregon's birthday, Cadence's birthday, Chinese New Year, and Valentine's Day!
We have a BUSY week ahead!

We are Picking up the Pace!
Studying the Native Americans was so much fun and I think we all learned a lot!
The Roadrunners learned about the tribes from all of the different regions in the country. They selected a tribe and researched facts about them to create a flip book. They loved making the Totem Poles, like the Native American tribes from the PNW did. They also had fun creating nicknames for themselves, much like the native people did.
We are going to study the Pioneers briefly and then head into biographies for Black History Month.
The pace is picking up! As you know, I have taken them a step farther in division. We are working diligently on it during class. Watch for cursive! Beginning this week we will begin practicing in class and then I will send home cursive homework!
The science fair is going to sneak up on us soon! Save the date for the science fair, Wednesday, March 13th at 6:30 pm at Montgomery Park. In science class we will study the scientific method, conduct experiments, and I will show them an example of a science board. Packets with more information will be sent home soon.
Have a great week!
Your Teacher,
Ms Scuderi
