Hello Parents,
I hope that everyone had a great winter break. Mr. Butler and I want to thank all of you for the wonderful gifts that we received. They were both thoughtful and kind.
A reminder to everyone that next week we start ice skating lessons. We will have our lessons on Tuesdays. Remember to send your student in their field trip clothes and have a sack lunch. You can add an extra snack in their lunch for after the lesson, as we will be eating lunch early on those days.
MATH: In math they have been working on identifying polyhedra and non-polyhedra shapes. They have been building models of these shapes in class. Some of the vocabulary that the kids have been learning are: faces, edges, vertex and corners. We have also been working on division. At this point we have been working on problems that do not have remainders. We will start solving problems with remainders in a few weeks. Many of the students need to practice their skip counting by 6, 7, 8, and 9's.
Please practice skip counting at home with your student.
SCIENCE/THEME: In science class we have started learning about weather and the seasons. We are focusing this week on the water cycle. The vocabulary that we are learning is: precipitation, evaporation, water cycle, and condenses. You will be seeing these vocab words on your students spelling list soon.
Mr. Butler is continuing cursive and has started poetry writing with the students. The class has been listening to different poems and starting to write their own. Feel free to have your students write their own poems at home if you like.
Have a Great Week,
Bill and Ted
