Back in Black

Hello Parents,

Please turn in your Hop-a-Thon packets by Friday, April 15, 2011.

Remember that we start swimming lessons this next week.

In science class the students have just finished learning about matter. They learned about the three main states of matter (solid, liquid, gas) as well as two other states, plasma and Bose-Einstein condensate. The class observed several experiments about matter. One of the experiments dealt with air. For this experiment we used a two liter soda bottle and a balloon. I covered the top of the bottle with the balloon. I then tried to blow up the balloon in the bottle. No matter how hard I tried, I could not blow up the balloon. It would not blow up because the air inside the bottle would push against the balloon, not allowing it to expand. Then I cut a hole in the bottom of the bottle, allowing the air to escape when I blew up the balloon.

Hope that all of you are doing well,
