Turn it Up!

Hello Parents,

Swimming went great! All of the students worked and swam hard during the week. Thank you to all of the parents that helped with the trip.

SCIENCE:

In science we will be learning about sound. Here is some of the vocabulary that we will be using:

1. sound, energy that you hear

2. vibrates, sound is made when matter vibrates, or moves back and forth quickly

3. pitch, how high of low a sound is

4. volume, how loud or soft a sound is

Here is an sound experiment that you can do at home with your students.

Observe Sound

What you will need: a plastic jar, wax paper, small paper pieces.

1. Stretch a piece of wax paper over the opening of a jar. Use a rubber band to hold the wax paper in place.

2. Put paper pieces on top of wax paper.

3. Gently tap the wax paper. Tell what you see and hear.

Hoping that the rain ends soon,

The Roadrunner Teachers
